Has POWERHOUSETM been installed before?

The first system was installed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2011 at a size of 4.6kW. Unlike the competition, our Solar Shingles have been in the marketplace and there are over 1,000 homes already installed with POWERHOUSETM. RGS Energy is the exclusive manufacturer and service provider for the POWERHOUSETM systems produced and installed by The Dow Chemical Company.

What are the details of the POWERHOUSETM warranty?

The RGS POWERHOUSETM 3.0 Solar Shingle is similar in construction to regular asphalt shingles. POWERHOUSETM 3.0 Solar Shingles come with an 11-year product warranty, which is the standard product warranty of most traditional solar panels today, a 24-year power production warranty, and a 20-year weatherization warranty as a building product.

Are POWERHOUSETM Solar Shingles eligible for incentives and subsidies?

Yes, POWERHOUSETM 3.0 qualifies for the same 30% Federal Investment Tax Credit in all 50 states. Local utilities may also offer additional solar power incentives.

How much does a POWERHOUSETM Solar Shingle system cost?

Though the price of a system is based on the estimated roof square footage for the home and the portion of the roof that will be covered with POWERHOUSETM Solar Shingles and system size varies with roof size and location, we’ve found that a re-roof with POWERHOUSETM Solar Shingles is typically comparable or more cost effective than re-roofing to standard composite shingle and then installing a traditional rack and mount solar system. The system costs include materials, installation, and the removal of the existing roof. Taxes and permit fees may also be included in costs.

When will POWERHOUSETM Solar Shingles be available in my state?

POWERHOUSETM 3.0 systems are currently available in 42 states, with plans to make them available nationwide before the end of the year. We currently have the POWERHOUSETM Solar Shingles in production and ready to ship.
